Currell is a London independent estate agent that has offices in Islington, Clerkenwell, Hackney and Victoria Park. Since its inception in 1990, the family-owned business, led by Chris and Anne Currell, has been dedicated to offering a professional, personal service to anyone that wants to buy, rent, let or sell a property in London. Currell Residential, managed by Anne, caters for residential property; Currell Commercial, led by Chris, deals with commercial property.

Seeking to reach a wider audience and update their online presence, Currell invited Sound in Theory to redesign their website. They had originally commissioned a London agency to complete the work – initially looking to us for tech-only services. After this agency pulled out, Currell asked to us to take over the whole contract, finding no other agency offered the exceptional levels of design services and value of Sound in Theory.

Currell’s original site lacked lustre, wasn’t cohesive and failed to reach the demographic that makes up much of the estate agent’s audience: individuals, couples and families searching eastern and northern London for properties up to £10m+. Poor SEO was preventing many of this target group from finding Currell.com; those who did found an uninteresting, unclear site with branding unsuccessfully implemented.

Sound in Theory’s redesign of Currell.com incorporated their latest branding – allowing for complete consistency between their website and print materials. This visual overhaul brought crispness, slickness and a better user interface to the whole website, ensuring the entire browsing experience is consistent and professional. While aesthetically appealing to the site’s target audience, by integrating this site with the CMS software of the original website (which ensured there were no new license fees), then bolting on a bespoke admin solution, we let visitors control the more advanced aspects of the site, such as the ‘featured properties’ and location guides.

Currell wanted to change the current supplier of their back-end office software, which meant re-engineering the tech work that the site was built on. Sound in Theory acted as consultants to Currell for the selection – ensuring the supplier chosen is technically capable and provides the appropriate accessibility data required to produce the new site. By integrating a very technical hosting solution in collaboration with the new supplier of the office software, a ‘synced’ copy of all the images and data from the back-end software also sits on the web servers – allowing the complex property search and display functionality.

To ensure the new site is visited by as many people as possible in the sea of other London estate agents, Sound in Theory implemented well-researched, targeted SEO strategies for Currell. By splitting the original Currell.com into two sites – Residential and Commercial – Sound in Theory has been able to target the two very different audiences with different, property-specific strategies. By creating location guides for every area that Currell has property to buy or rent, Sound in Theory is also able to generate location-specific SEO results for Currell Residential – far more achievable than a broad London target.

Sound in Theory ensured all the content that features on Currell.com, though dense with keywords, is up-to-date, accurate and captures the estate agent in the best way possible. This engaging copy reflects the estate agent’s personal and expert approach to helping their clients’ buy, rent, sell or let property in London. New content to Currell includes useful information for anyone that is looking to move into new property, including well-researched guides to renting and buying property in London. Clear, concise and informative – Currell.com is now a pleasure to read.

Since launch, Currell.com has received praise from many delighted customers, both selling and looking for property. The site’s average performance in the first two months, when compared to the averages of the previous three months, yielded brilliant results that include:
