Flatline Festival

Thrilled with the website we created for Jenral.com, when the event organisers of the Jenral Group needed someone to create the website and branding for their inaugural Flatline Festival, they came to Sound in Theory. They had originally commissioned another company, yet found what they produced did not reflect the scale or quality of their festival. With a limited timescale and budget, we created a stylish visual image for Flatline Festival and built a flash website to attract people to the inaugural event.

The branding Sound in Theory produced for Flatline Festival captures its spirit of excitement and adventure, in a way that appeals to the event’s target youth market. The dynamic logo we created – designed to look like a heart rate monitor and a mountain – reflects the thrilling, heart-stopping essence of the visitor experience, whilst reinforcing the name of the festival with its extended flat line.

The website Sound in Theory created for the Flatline Festival is designed to draw together the festival’s two main components – music and extreme winter sports – in a youthful, clean manner. From the moment the website loads, the Flatline Festival’s essence is manifest in striking visuals, bold headlines and stylish links. Featuring a flash homepage, flash menu and flash music player, the database-driven website brings their festival to the web in the spirit of fun it will take place.

To intrigue people to visit the website, Flatline Festival asked Sound in Theory to produce a 30-second motion clip to feature on the Extreme Channel. As it is a brand-new festival, we used high-quality 3D animation to create a huge festival stage set in a windswept landscape of mountains and snow, which seems to be awaiting the acts and festival-goers arrival. Intriguing, stylish and cool, the Flatline Festival advert was the perfect way to tempt people onto the Flatline website when it hit the screens of TVs all over the world in November 2007.
