Merlin Shepherd is a remarkable clarinettist who specialises in playing klezmer music (the Jewish instrumental folk music of Eastern Europe). Throughout his career, Merlin has played with a range of renowned klezma artists, composed scores for numerous dance and theatre companies, taught at klezma festivals all over the world and been Musical Director for The Royal National Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Company, amongst a variety of other accomplishments. Sound in Theory worked with talented artists Sam Norland to create a website for Merlin that features information about his tremendous range of work, whilst capturing the evocative, lively spirit of his music. The full-flash website we developed is the result – a remarkably interactive site peppered with flash objects that visitors can play with, including an exploding well and hedgehogs that run away from the cursor.
