Leeds City Council, Yorkshire Forward, English Partnerships and the Leeds Initiative have worked together for the past four years to identify key aspects of the city of Leeds, as it stands now, in order to plan its development. Renaissance Leeds is the result - an initiative conceptualising the future of Leeds, which has the goal to add a new layer of interconnected urban space to the existing city. To help them display this vision, Renaissance Leeds looked to unique film and media production studio Squint/Opera to create a film that demonstrates the key aspects of the initiative, and produce a series of vector images, derived from sketches that architect John Thorp created, which use complex visual metaphors to represent the dynamics of development in Leeds. Squint/Opera looked to Sound in Theory to create a website that would showcase these assets. The full-flash website we created does so beautifully, and features interactive flash items that visitors can zoom into to find out more about the Renaissance Leeds project and flash galleries that display Squint/Opera’s innovative film and John Thorp’s imaginative sketches.
