S3physics.org.uk is the website of Success in Shortage Subjects (S3) – a charity set up by former heads and governors of secondary schools that aims to raise teaching standards and advance pupils’ education. S3 approached Sound in Theory to create a website that would focus on improving how physics is taught at Key Stage 3 and 4. The website would be a large, searchable library of experiments – each with associated text and images – that the S3 Physics team would manage themselves. The site would also feature forums where each experiment could be discussed by users with a valid username and password. Sound in Theory achieved all S3’s website requirements intuitively, and on a budget. S3physics.org.uk is clean, easy to use and features simple back-end systems to control the data. Since launch, the site has been used daily with some fantastic results!
